Løfallstrand ligger i Kvinnherad kommune. Herfra går ferja over fjorden til Gjermundshamn, som en del av Riksvei 48. 4 km sør for ferjeleiet på Løfallstrand, ligger Rosendal, som er kommunesentrum. I Rosendal ligger Baroniet, som besøkes av tusenvis av turister hvert år.
Kvinnherad er en ganske vidstrakt kommune med i overkant av 13000 innbyggere. Kommunen kjennetegnes av flotte fjordlandskap med høye fjell. Store deler av isbreen Folgefonn ligger innenfor kommunens grenser. Mange av vassdragene rundt Folgefonna er regulert, og Kvinnherad er derfor en utpreget vannkraftkommune.
Turen mellom Løfallstrand og Gjermundshamn tar ca. 25 minutter. På noen av turene anløpes Varaldsøy. På disse turene vil reisetiden være om lag 50 minutter.
Det er ofte lang kø, særlig på fredag og søndag ettermiddag.

De fleste vestlendinger står av og til, noen ganske ofte, i ferjekø. Et av stedene der det ganske ofte er kø, er Gjermundshavn. Spesielt på fredag ettermiddag og kveld risikerer man å måtte vente både vel og lenge. Da kan man jo bruke ventetiden til å finne en cache.
Gjermundshavn ligger i bygda Hatlestrand i Kvinnherad kommune. Bygda har drøyt 450 innbyggere. Her finner du butikk, bensinstasjon, skole og noen små bedrifter.
Ferja krysser Hardangerfjorden til Løfallstrand, noen kilometer nord for kommunesenteret Rosendal i Kvinnherad. På noen av turene anløper ferja også Varaldsøy. Turen til Løfallstrand tar 25 minutter. Med anløp på Varaldsøy tar turen over fjorden 45 minutter.

Bautaen som er reist på staden der Gunnar Turtveit grov seg ut or snøraset.

3/1 1903 vart postførar Gunnar Turtveit teken av eit snøras i Seljestadjuvet. Turtveit hamna djupt under snøen, medan gardsguten han hadde med, hamna høgare oppe og klarte snart å grava seg sjølv ut. Då guten ikkje klarte finna Turtveit, fòr han ned til bygda etter hjelp. Hjelpemannskapen klarte heller ikkje å finna Turtveit under snømassane, men Turtveit høyrde dei prata. Turtveit ropa til dei, men lyden nådde ikkje fram. Hjelpemannskapen gav opp leitinga, men før dei drog heim, let dei skikjelken dei hadde med, stå att. Litt etter litt smelta noko av snøen rundt Turtveit, og han klarte å rikka seg litt. Han ville nytta tollekniven til å grava seg ut, men han var falle ut, og slira var tom. Etter kvart fekk Turtveit tak i posthornet som hang bak på sekken, og nytta det til å grava seg ut. Han låg 56 timar under snøen før han klarte å grava seg ut med posthornet. Takka vere skia som han braut laus frå kjelken, kom han seg ned til bygda. Postverket reiste denne bautaen til minne om hendinga.
I dag vert posten brakt heim til oss i små, snedne, raude postmann-Pat-bilar.

In 1903 postman G. Turtveit was hit by an avalanche. He was buried under the snow for 56 hours until he managed to dig himself out by using his post horn.

A quick park-and-grab while waiting on the ferry. Stealth is required. There was a better spot behind the store, but since the ferry was pulling up by the time I discovered it, I did not have time to move the cache.

Near the Gullingen Ski Resort in the mountains of Ryfylke. General area easily accessible by car on all-year-open road, car park close by. Some walking in easy terrain on gravel road, you may have to stray from the path though! A small glass container with a log book and space for small items. This item should be possible to find without any digging in the snow, even if there is a metre or two of it.

100 meters walk from the ferry crossing in Hjelmeland. Easy 2 min walk This is located at a nice walking area just next to the ferry crossing at Hjelmeland. Nice area fro a short wait for the ferry.
The container is a small plastic box containing logbook and two pens to start with. The logbook is in a small black plastic bag. There is a small FTF note in there. Trades are: coin, film container, plastic figur and small metal binders.
The container was placed late autumn so the GPS might be strugling a bit when the summer comes and there are leafes on the trees.

Middelalderkirke, nevnt 1329, lå opprinnelig på Birkeland. Denne kirken ble revet og ny er kommet til før 1642, en tømmerkirke. Kom i privat eie i 1724 da den ble kjøpt av kirkevergene Arne Olsen Øvre Totland og Lars Olsen Øvre Birkeland. I 1839 overtok sognet kirken. Denne kirken ble revet i 1878 da ny kirke ble bygget på Midtun . Ansvar for byggingen: Christian Christiansen Gyldenpris, Ivar Rasmussen Fyllingen, Lars Olsen Hougsdal og Askil Aase. Av gamle "skatter" nevnes krusifiks fra 1500-tallet, apostelfigur fra 1400-tallet, lysarm fra 1708, lysekrone fra 1735, brudebenk fra 1669, alterkalk fra 1848, disk fra ca 1720, dåpsfat fra 1600-tallet, messehagel fra 1866, oblatgjemme fra 1878, 2 alterstaker fra 1878, lysestake fra 1600-tallet.

Midevil church mentioned in 1329 placed on Birkeland. This curch was destroyed and a new one was built before 1642, it was a timber church. This church was replaced in 1878 with the building who is today. The Church has some well preserved treasueres and is worth a visit. See information stand outside for opening hours.

By the Laatefoss waterfall This cache is hidden by the great Laatefoss near Odda. It is located approx. 30 meters from the parking-area. The cache contains GeoCache form, log-book, and a pencil. The cache initially also contained the following items that can be exchanged: 2 packs - each with 10 stamps from different nations, a postcard with a Norwegian troll, and a pin that we found in cache GCJB6H - Arka in Haugesund. Have fun!
